The stabbing back pain came back last night so I slept for about 2 hours sitting up on the couch and that was it. I tried to lay down a couplde times but it feels like someone is stabbing me in the back. Needless to say today I am exhausted and grumpy. This morning was spent trying not to cry because my back hurt so bad. I did manage to get to the DMV this afternoon to renew my license which expires next week. I have been putting that off for weeks.
To add to my discomfort I have hives all over my body and we cannot figure out why. Benadryl and Benadryl cream are doing nothing. I just itch and itch and itch all day. It is driving me insane. It has been bad for about 4 days now but I can't put my finger on any changes in diet or products. I am ready for these babies right now. I wish my darn water would just break already!

I was thinkin' that maybe... just maybe... but I see you're still here! Positive "water breaking" thoughts to you!!!
Smiles & hugs... Jen
I thought I remembered reading somewhere that many women get really itchy right before they go into labor... can totally sympathize with you on the back pain. I hope it subsides some tonight and you get some much-needed rest.
Sorry to hear that the back pain is so bad right now. I just keep hoping the end is close for you!
That stinks about the hives. Have you talked to the doctor about it?
I would call the doc about the itching. Better safe right!?!

"Itching during pregnancy is a common symptom. What many women don't realize, however, is that sometimes itching can be a sign of a liver abnormality called intrahepatic (within the liver) cholestasis (pooling of bile salts) of pregnancy. When associated with itching, the skin component is called pruritus gravidarum. It is a rare condition occurring in 1-2/10,000 pregnancies in North America it is more common in the last 3 months of pregnancy and with twin pregnancies. It recurs in subsequent pregnancies in 60-70% of women. About half the time it is associated with yellow jaundice.
Hey Kristen!
I too had the massive itchies, both with the triplets AND with the twins. What kind of luck that is, I'm not too sure. Regardless, the thing that I found to be most helpful, was cold washcloths. I would soak them in water, wring them out, lay them flat, put a piece of wax paper in between, lay another flat on top, repeat... FREEZE THEM!! It felt FABULOUS. It also worked really really well for engorgement issues too. I'm thinking about you all, and praying for a speedy and safe delivery!!
It's been a while since I've had a chance to comment on your blog - a friend of mine has kept me up to date on your blog as I couldn't read it in the hospital.
I know all about that back pain - I'm hoping that it will end soon for you. Looking forward to hearing your news!
Hang in there...soon enough the back pain will be a distant memory & other complaints will take its place (tired!) and the itchiness, definitely talk to your doc about it. Can't wait to hear your great news :)
