I thought that I might devote a little bit of blog time to all of the amazing issues that you come across when raising twins. I have never known twins (until now) and it is amazing to me how much interesting stuff comes along with it. I read recently that only 3% of American births are multiple births so it really is like being in an exclusive club.
Being a twin Mommy means a lot of things. Here are a few:
- You never, ever get any sleep.
- You will never watch a TV show straight through again.
- You will never have clean cloths again.
- Showers are something that happen in about 45 seconds.
- Quiet, what the heck is quiet?
- You find out how to quiet two screaming infants at the same time.
- Your house becomes overrun with baby stuff.
- When you hear singleton parents complain you always smile a little on the inside.
- Your back always aches from carrying two infant seats around.
- You get pretty damn good at juggling.
- You can pick up your baby with one hand.
- Never going out in public without being accosted by curious people.
- Double the paperwork.
- You can have the sound of two infants screaming at once.
- When one poops, you know that the other one will very shortly.
- You are greeted each morning by not one, but two goofy grins.
- You hear double the laughter.
- Twice the bottles.
- Twice the diapers.
- Twice the formula.
- Twice the laundry.
- Twice the yelling.
- Twice the cost.
- Twice the love.
- Twice the smiles.
- Twice the fun.

Everytime I think I'm having a bad day, I think about how much more difficult it could be with two...
;)
You are an amazing woman and mom! I think the reason that only 3% of births are multiples is that those women are chosen very selectively for the task at hand. I don't think everyone could handle it! I certainly don't think I could.
I think it's great that your lists both end with the smiles, love and laughter. What a great reward for the trying tasks of twin-mommyness! I agree with Mandy - God doesn't give you anything you can't handle and you were hand picked by Him for this very important task!

Glad I am not the only one that does that.
I came across your blog thru one I link thru. I work as a OB nurse in a smaller hospital and I loved reading your girls' birth story. My younger sister has struggled with infertility for nearly 5 years. She will be doing her 1st round of IUI next month. She is a twin herself and she has had numerous dreams that she has twin girls. I really pray that dream comes true.
Your girls are beautiful. They are so very lucky to have such a wonderful loving family.
I really like this list. the one that got me tonight as it happened earlier today to me was the pooping one! Oh, and the back ache too.
Those goofy smiles and cute laughs make it all worth it though!
