PT went well this morning. The office was in Camden and it was also the waiting area for a general pediatric clinic so I hated exposing the girls to all those millions of germs. And I had to tell about 5 kids not to touch, man I hate that.
They weighed and measured Abby and she hadn't really gained anything in the past few days. The physical therapist Renee was nice and very on the ball, so to speak. Abby's head lag is fine and Renee wasn't concerned about that. The biggest problem is her neck control while on her belly. When she is on her belly she burrows her head in the floor and doesn't push up. We knew this would probably be an issue. She gave us some exercises to do a few times each day to try to help it. We also have to do a few things to help her flat head.
She was also slightly concerned that her weight percentile was 10th, her height was 5th but her head circumference was 25th. She said it could be because she was born so small but it could also be residual effect from the ventriculomegaly. She wasn't terribly concerned but she wants us to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't have any pressure on her brain. We might need to see a neurosurgeon after all. It seems like another head ultrasound might be in order just in case. Renee really didn't think anything was wrong and told us that her poor muscle control is definitely not neurological, just wek muscles. I think she just wants to be on the safe side and cover all bases.
