We got Abby's test results back today. Some of it was good, some not so good. She has what they are calling "Profound" Ventricles. They are not huge but bigger than average. We knew that was possible from the ventriculomegaly, but we were hoping they would be within the normal range. The neurosurgeon says that it is nothing horrible but something to keep an eye on. In addition to that some of the structures of the brain are smaller than normal, specifically the cerebellum (which controls motor function). None of it will impact her cognitive or intellectual development but will impact her motor. It also explains all the delays. So now we will be seeing a neurologist (in addition to PT, the pedi and the ophthalmologist) and having an MRI to see if anything else is abnormal. I guess the fun continues.
I was so hoping that everything would be fine and we could put this all to bed. I hate to sound whiney b/c I know there are Moms out there dealing with so much worse. I just hate to see Abby have to go through all this. It is exhausting for both of us and I know she has got to be sick of being poked, prodded, tested and pushed to her limits all the time. Poor little peanut.

I'm so sorry that the test results didn't come back perfectly normal. It's good that the abnormalities will not affect her cognitive or intellectual development. Hopefully the motor skills will be improved with the continuous PT.
We were all hoping it would be fine sweetie. I promise that. You're not sounding whiny. You just want your babies to be normal and not have to put through what she'll have to endure.
But she's a tough little monkey and she'll get through it with lots of smiles and laughs.
Keep your chin up, my friend. We'll all be here to help you guys through this. ((hugs))
