We are back home from the wedding and OH WHAT A WEEKEND IT WAS! We arrived on Thursday evening around 6:30 after almost 10 hours in the car. The girls were more terrific than I could have imagined. In 10 hours we had maybe 45 minutes of crying spread across the whole trip. They were so patient and so good for us. On Thursday night Abby started getting hot and by the time we made it back to the hotel room after dinner to celebrate Genna's 13th birthday (she came along to be my helper) Abby had a 102 fever. We gave her Tylenol and hoped for the best. She slept terribly and I got about 2 hours of sleep. Gracie however (who is our bad sleeper) slept in her Pack N Play like a champ!
By morning Abby's fever was down and we thought maybe we were in the clear. As the day wore on she got fussier and fussier and her fever was back up. My MIL felt in her mouth and sure enough there is a tooth finally coming through. The crazy part is that on the same day Gracie also had her first tooth coming through. We assumed the fever was due to the teeth and went to the rehearsal. It was a lovely rehearsal and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately Abby puked as soon as we got there and her fever was getting worse and worse. Dinner was served late so we gave her Tylenol and waited it out a little. She had fallen asleep so she seemed okay. It wasn't until almost 9:30 that the toasts were over and we could get the babies back to the hotel. By the time we got there Abby's fever was 102.5. Motrin helped and she slept fitfully (again) so we all got little sleep.
Saturday brought a lower fever and a slightly happier baby in the morning. I thought maybe the teeth were coming through and things were looking up. Not so lucky. They didn't want babies at the ceremony so we sat it out (my kids might cry and disrupt things). I sent Genna (my niece who was celebrating her 13th birthday the day of the wedding) along with Bry's parents so she could enjoy the wedding. Brian was in the wedding so he had to go super early. Bry's parents and Gen were going to come back to the hotel after the ceremony to help me get the girls ready. Unfortunately by reception time the fever was back at 102.3 and she felt awful. Grace woke up from her nap and puked ALL OVER me. I hoped it was from extra saliva and teething but who knew. I had to send them to the reception without me so I spent Saturday night alone in a hotel room (8 hours from home with no one to call on for help) with two sick babies. Gracie puked again and not just a little but a huge sickie puke. Abby's fever was at 103.5 by dinnertime and I was fearing a trip to a strange hospital.
Fortunately Brian's very sweet cousin and his cousins angelic wife :>) drove him back to the hotel to be with me. They also took Genna out for a birthday dinner. She had a terrific time (Thanks Chris & Michelle!!!!!). The girls were doing a little better by bedtime and we managed about 4 hours of sleep before heading back on the road.
So now we are back from our trip. The girls did great on the trip home and were thrilled to be home. They did terrible with all of the strangers and cried at just about everyone. We made it home at around 5:30 which was in time to have dinner with my family.
Brian and Genna had a nice time which I am so glad about. For me it was just tough to have terribly sick kids and be away from home. When the babies are sick it is tough. Having them be sick without our stuff and so far from home is awful. I am not sure we will be traveling again anytime soon.

Sorry for the crazy weekend. Katie always seems to start pushing new teeth as we're loading the car. So I know how you felt (kind of), dealing with sick kids away from home.
Hopefully they both get feeling better quickly. Do you think it could be whatever Gen and one of the boys was sick with last week?
