Every time we get a bill (that goes to our insurance company) for all of Abby's docs and tests we immediately say "thank God we have insurance." That being said it amazes me how quickly the copays for docs, tests and treatments along with medications and special gear costs (like glasses, PT balls, PT wedges, etc.). Add in the tolls, bridge fees and parking to drive to the city more than once a week and you are talking about HUNDREDS of dollars a month. We have thought about even trying to get SSI benefits to cover some of the costs for her gear. I hate thinking that there are things that could help her but that we can't afford. We just try to remember how lucky we are. There are many people out there who don't have insurance. I can't help but wonder what in the heck happens to those families.
