We had our EI assessment yesterday and it went fairly well. Abby had started puking on Tuesday night but I didn't have enough time to reschedule since our assessment was first thing in the morning. The Special Ed teacher and Physical Therapist spent about 2 hours asking lots of questions and watching Abby. My Mom & Dad came to help with Grace and help me distract Abby. I am not sure if I discussed this already but all of her doctoring has made her VERY stranger shy. She did pretty darn good for being under the weather, teething and having two strangers trying to make her do stuff she hates.
The long and short is that she IS eligible for services. Her fine motor skills are at 9 months and her verbal skills are at 8 months. Her social skills are between 7 and 8 months and her cognitive skills are on target. The bad part is her gross motor and belly skills. Gross motor she is functioning at a 4 month level and her belly skills are that of a 2 month old. I knew she was behind but it is still hard to hear.
She also has some range of motion problems in one of her hips so they want to assess her hips to check for problems... Yay, one more specialist, one more appointment, one more reason to make Abby miserable. :>(
We meet up again with the "team" to set up her plan, choose her therapist and figure out our regular meeting schedule. They will come to the house at least once a week and work with us here, which is nice.
I guess I am sad because she is so far behind but glad to have a new plan in place.
