This is the installment about what no one tells you when having twins. Here are the things no one tells you about after the baby is born.
- Breast feeding twins is HARD. I cannot express this one enough. I know... you are thinking but I read every book, bought every pillow, went to every class. SO DID I. Not that you won't be able to do it like me, I couldn't b/c my body crapped out on me. Just know that it is more work than you even think it will be.
- Your skin will hang down a couple inches after. And this stays for a while.
- Stretch marks really don't go away.
- Your boobs will sag even if you only nurse for 6 weeks.
- C-section incisions itch when they heal
- Your hair will fall out in hand fulls.
- And the best part (for me) about the hair falling out is that when it grows back in you may get these wierd tiny bangs and sideburns as new hair grows. I look like a chemo patient wearing a bad wig right now. :>)
- You will never be able to blowdry your hair, put on makeup, get dressed properly or wear jewelry again. Forget about looking nice.
- You will not feel rested for a VERY long time
- People will tell you to "sleep when the babies sleep" which is a joke because they won't sleep at the same time for a while
- The first week is deceptive. They will sleep like little angles and you will think you are in the clear... you aren't!
- Even when you get close to your pre-pregnancy weight you will not look like it
-Puke will be become a regular part of your wardrobe
- The screaming of two babies sounds like ten in the middle of the night
- Once you get one baby settled on a schedule... the other baby will decide to abandon ship.
- As soon as you develop a routine that works... the babies will change and everything will be shot to hell
- You will learn to carry them at the same time but will also clunk their heads together once a week
- 6 month old babies know how to smack, steal toys, pull hair and scratch each other
- You might as well get a white and black striped jersey now for all the reffing you are about to do
But don't forget... twice the hugs, love, smiles, laughter and fun!
