We went yesterday for our final post-op appointment with the eye surgeon. Thankfully he is VERY please with her progress. For now she gets to stay out of glasses. We go back in 4 months to make sure the muscles have fully healed. After that we will only need to go once a year if all looks good.
For the past couple weeks it has been non-stop appointments so we finally get a break for a few weeks!!! Nothing until Gracie's GI doc appointment in July.
We had a very crappy appointment with the pediatrician this week. I have not been thrilled with the care we have gotten from our pedi so far. It seems like they breeze in and out and hardly give us the time of day. With Abby's special needs in general and Gracie's GI issues it seems like our pediatrician should be the one who is overseeing and making sure that nothing gets overlooked.
So for their 12 month visit I scheduled with our favorite doc and decided I would lay it on the line, ask my questions, air my concerns and then decide whether to switch to a CHOP doc at the hospital (meaning more traveling time). We waited an hour and a half in the little room for the doc. Thankfully my Mom joined me or I would have been screwed. The doc came in, never apologized for being late and started bitching about CHOP not sending any reports for Abby. She knew nothing about either baby despite having seen them before. Didn't look through their charts before coming in. She ROLLED HER EYES every time I said that a specialist was at CHOP (um... jealous much!). She must have said 10 times how difficult it is to work with CHOP and how they would prefer patients use their doctors. I felt like saying "HELLO, did you read the US News on CHOP being Number 1 AGAIN!!!!" Idiot!
I knew I was going to get resistance b/c I have decided to split up the girls vaccines (no more than one at a time). Instead of being just resistant she was flat out rude and belittling. She made me look like an idiot and zealot for the decision I have made. I know that the medical community doesn't agree with my decision but I'm the Mom and it's my choice, plain and simple. So the girls did only get one vaccine but the visit made me realize that we need a new (better) practice SOON.
So now I am back to the drawing board.
