SHE DID IT!!!!!!

For those of you who have been following our trials and tribulations I think you will understand how momentous these accomplishments are. We have been kicking her PT into overdrive lately to try to start covering some ground. We realize that a 13 month old should long since be rolling, crawling and at least standing. Since the extent of Abby's skills was sitting on her own she had been getting super frustrated. She watches her sister walk all over and follow us around and she wants to move.

So she started to do this on Friday:

To say we were elated is the understatement of the year. All our hard work was finally paying off. Now she could move herself from one position to the other. For a kid like Abby with all of the structural and fluid issues this is HUGE!

In addition to sitting herself up she has also started signing this week!!!! She and Gracie are now signing "more" "baba" and waving.

But then this morning it was the pinnacle of our hard work paying off. There has been great concern for months that she is not rolling over. It's not terribly uncommon in kids with corpus callosum problems and ventricle enlargement. Tack on the extra fluid in the frontal lobe and the poor kid has some major mechanical issues. Or so we thought:

There just are not words to explain the joy of watching my 13 month old daughter roll on her own for the first time. This is actually the 3rd or 4th. I had to enjoy it in person before taping.

Awe! How truly wonderful! It's so great that you video these... I think she will appreciate seeing these later in life. You can pull these out and show her just how far she's come!

About this blog

Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!

Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
