We had Abby's speech/OT assessment this afternoon for her feeding issue. Since she was very small she has taken between a half hour and 45 minutes to take her bottles. It is frustrating but we try to be patient with her. Our physical therapist suggested we have her assessed by speech and OT to make sure there isn't a more advanced feeding issue.
They found no neuro-motor or tone problems so that was a relief. For now we are instructed to take her off bottles, do sippy cups and see if she does better that way. They assume that she has weaker than average muscles and isn't highly motivated. She is so tiny that her caloric needs are not terribly high. The good thing is that, for now, no speech or OT!

I'm glad she doesn't need speech or OT. Hopefully putting her on sippy cups will help.
And I thought I was a slow eater. ;)
