This might make me a little crazy but I decided it was time to start introducing utensils. I bought a few different kinds of toddler utensils figuring they might play around and make a mess. I expected a few months until they got any in their mouths. I have let them play with them at the end of meals but never tried actually using them. This week I decided it was time to give it a whirl. I made sweet mashed potatoes and put some on a spoon for each baby. I was shocked that they managed to maneuver them with little problem. Gracie definitely got the prize for best utensil eating... the kid was a pro. Abby will need more practice, but they did great.

You're not crazy! We started giving Kate free reign of her utensils months ago. I have pics from February that show her eating yogurt, albeit messy. She can eat cereal (with milk!) and pudding like a pro now.
I think the earlier you give them, the better they get. Yeah it's not a clean activity but it's practice.
WTG, girls!
