Last night I took the girls to Will's football game. It was cold so we bundled (which is a total PITA with two toddlers), thankfully I had Genna here to help. Gracie was perfectly fine but about halfway through she started getting crabby. It was nearing bedtime so I packed up to go home. She screamed from the time we got in the car until the time she went to bed.
As a Mom it's weird how you know the difference between mad cries and hurt and she sounded hurt. Nothing was outwardly wrong and with all her tummy issues I chocked it up to a bad tummy. I gave her Tylenol, gas medicine and her tummy meds and put her to bed. The poor kid was up tossing and turning almost every half hour all night (was a VERY long night). Around 5am the wakings stopped and she slept soundly for a couple hours. When she got up for good she seemed pleasant. I was hugely relieved and went about our routine.
When I tried to brush her hair back behind her ears her hair was stuck to her ear. The poor baby had a terrible ear infection, her ear drum perforated during the night and her ear drained. This happened with her last year too. I don't know if I have ever mentioned it but Gracie has inherited my oddly high pain tolerance. It sounds like a good thing but often is not. Things like this can easily get missed. I felt just awful. We spent the morning at the pedi's office (waited freaking forever) and got her antibiotics. My poor little monkey!
