First of all, thanks for the kind words of encouragement for Abby. It is so wonderful to know that so many people are cheering for my little girl. Just when I feel like things are just too damn hard to be a Mom to a special needs kid it all seems to turn around. She is doing awesome with the walker. She can only do it for short bursts because her legs are so underdeveloped. It will take time, but she'll get there.
Yesterday we took her to the mall so she could have a nice smooth surface to go on. I wondered what people's reactions would be. I hate when people look at her with that empathetic, "poor little handicapped" baby look. I know she is kinda small and pathetic sometimes but I don't want her looked at as any different than her sister. Thankfully people were so nice. They just waved to both girls or said how cute they were. This nice Asian family was in the food court having lunch and they all stopped eating and clapped for Abby as she walked on by. You can imagine how proud she was of herself in that moment.
Gracie is have walker envy right now. We gave her another walker to try to suffice but she really wants the nice gold shiny one her sister has. We let her walk around in it here and there but she just ends up puzzled by the whole thing. It really is kind of funny. It's as if she can't be sure if it's safe for her sister unless she tests it out once a day. :D

Kristen, sibling rivalry, how wonderful. I am afraid this is only the beginning. But the love between them will make up for it.

That is awesome. I got tears in my eyes when reading that a family was clapping for Abby in her walker. Just awesome.
I think those walkers are adorable. My nephew who has CP had one from about Abby's age till he was six, at which time he had a surgery that allowed him to walk on his own. Regarding the way people react to it--I think that most people take their cues from the adults with the special needs kid. If the people around her are all sensitive and "soft" with her then others will feel sorry for her whereas if she's being spoken to and handled like a "regular" kid then not so much. Either way, she looks great in it! She needs some stickers to customize that bad boy.
Funny you said that b/c I was totally planning on getting some stickers and streamers for her. :D
