If you are not a sports fan then you can probably click away at this point.
For the few of you left reading if you are not an Eagles fan you will probably want to move on. :D
Ok, now for the "real fans" that are left ;D I think some of you will know what this is about. Today we officially say goodbye to a beloved friend, Brian Dawkins. B-Dawk as we like to call him in Philly was the first athlete in my entire sports loving existence that I admired as both an athlete and a player. Someone who I could really and truly see as a role model and person I truly admired. He was the first athlete I liked enough to wear their name and number on my back each and every Sunday. I know how lame it sounds to those of you who are not sports fans (hey, wait, are you still reading???) why it saddens me to see someone like B-Dawk move on to another city. I don't think I can explain it. Watching him make his patented moves as a safety has given me joy for so many years. He has been a big part of the heart and soul of the Eagles squad. After Trotter left we didn't have a lot of our soul left but B-Dawk put us all on his proverbial back week after week and pulled us along. Made us believe. And they almost made good... almost.
So I say goodbye with a heavy heart (I actually CRIED when I heard the news, yup I am that lame). I will still wear your number on my back every Sunday. You will still be my favorite athlete. I will still admire you as a player and a person. This city is going to miss you.
