One of the things that really irks me about people in this country (and sorry if you fall in this category) is the way we glorify our celebrities. We take a group of sparsely educated, overpaid, big-mouthed, immoral people and hold them up on this pedestal to which we should all aspire. Why are we not aspiring to do something great, to change the world? Instead we aspire to wear expensive shoes and drive expensive cars... because our favorite celebrity does.
I look at people like the Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohans of the world and instead of being splashed on the cover of magazines these people need serious help. They need a team of therapists, rehab specialists and doctors to keep them alive and yet they are still idols to so many people.
It frustrates me beyond belief that everyone knows who is dating who (well... except me) but if you ask them who the leader of the GOP or the Secretary of Defense is they will look at you blankly. When did we become this celebrity obsessed?

You can a lot about a culture and a country by who they celebrate and worship Sad, isn't it?
