Today was one of those days that can manage to wipe away an entire weeks worth of yuckiness and negativity. As an adult we aceept the fact that birthdays are no longer magical. They don't give us that same feeling it used to. In our family we make a BIG deal of birthdays for everyone. We each get balloons, gifts, cake, our choice of meal and special treatment. As a Mom I wanted to pass down that love of special days to my kids. (My Mom has always said that there are not enough days in life to celebrate so you should celebrate when you can.)
Last night we decorated the whole house. We put together their playhouse (so adorable!) and got everything ready for today. When they woke up this morning and went downstairs they were in awe of the decorations. Abby kept saying "woah, thank you. woah, thank you". It was hysterical.
We went to breakfast with Brian's parents and his brother Tim. The girls had a great breakfast and behaved like angels. Then we went to the Jellybean Jungle which is a big play place for little kids. The girls were in heaven. They ran. They climbed. They acted silly and loud and crazy with no one telling them to settle down or be quiet. It was a lot of fun.
After nap we had my parents, my brother, my sister, Will (poor thing had to lay on the sofa b/c he caught this virus the girls had), Jordan and Genna. The girls got presents, we ate chicken nuggets, corn on the cob and french fries for dinner (the girls fave). We had cupcakes and played games. After dinner my parents gave the girls their bikes and we went outside to ride them since we had a five minute break in the never ending rain.
By about 7 o'clock they were both exhausted so we did quick bath and bed before 8. All in all it was a terrific day. It doesn't sound like a huge day but it felt like one. They were so good and so well behaved. As a Mom I couldn't have asked for a better day for my kids. I am a lucky woman!
Happy birthday angel! Happy birthday princess!
