I thought an early two-year update might be in order. On Saturday my "babies" (I have to use quotes now since they are really not babies anymore) turn two. As the week progresses life will be nutty. We're not doing a big party like last year but there is still stuff to be done... like the fun of having to spend hours putting together their presents. :D
Here' what they're up to at two:
Gracie - This kid has turned into the toughest little kid I know. She runs, she jumps, she can climb anything. She sleeps like a champ and eats fairly well. She would probably eat better but her reflux still bothers her. The medications help with that but don't get rid of it. Gracie would prefer to be outside running around or climbing than doing anything else. She doesn't watch TV or like to play quiet types of games. She does like to paint or color though.
We have a re-assessment for OT this week and they think she will likely qualify. She starts with her new speech therapist next week. She is growing fairly well; she is still around the 25th percentile for height and weight.
Grace is definitely the animal lover of the family. We can't take a walk without stopping to look at every dog, bird, bunny, turtle or cat that walks by. We have two beavers in our lake and she LOVES those. I think she might be a veterinarian in training.
Abby - Abby has become as silly as her sister is tough. The kid will laugh at anything and not the usual kid stuff. When someone trips or falls she goes into hysterics. She can be downright inappropriate laughing at strangers when they stumble. :D She is walking fairly well and tries her best to run. She doesn't handle uneven surfaces well so she prefers sidewalks. She is starting to do some climbing. Abs prefers to be outside to inside but will sit and watch tv or play with toys.
Abs still isn't on the charts and has trouble gaining weight. She is short too. She is still working at her PT and OT. Her "issues" are still there but to all of us she is just Abby.
Abby's "thing" is really just acting like a nut and being silly. She loves to make people laugh and loves when she gets the whole room hysterical. Maybe we have a comedienne in the making.
Both Girls
The coolest thing that has happened over the past couple months is the awakening the girls have had to each other. They sued to just be two kids living in the same house who sometimes noticed one another. Now they are inseparable. They play together. They laugh together. They wrestle around the house. They hold hands in the car. It is adorable. Watching two people have such a cool bond is amazing. Makes me wish I was a twin. :D
