When the end of summer starts creeping up slowly it is time for our family to go back to being a "sports family". You know... bumper stickers about this sport or that. Those camping chairs permanently in your truck. Practice or a game every night of the week. Because Brian and I play a big part in raising the boys we also play a big part in their sports lives. For three years Brian coached one or the other of the boys soccer teams. Now that Will plays football and Jordan's soccer teams are more serious he has stopped.
But this is what our week looks like right now.
Monday - Jordan's soccer AND Will's football
Tuesday through Thursday - Will's football
Friday - Jordan's soccer.
Come Fall it will look like this:
Monday - Soccer practice
Tuesday through Thursday - Football practice and sometimes games
Friday - Soccer practice
Saturday - Soccer game
Sunday - Football game
Honestly... it is exhausting. We take turns with all the practices and games but whoever isn't on a field is caring for, feeding and entertaining minimally four kids. I hate to admit it but I daydream about when the fall sports season is over... and it's only August.
An awesome aside is that Will has been requested (this does not happen often) to play for the varsity squad. He now has to make weight which means losing a fair amount between now and September. Hopefully we can get him down so he can take them up on this honor.
