I'm not sure if I talked on here about the harnesses I rented for the airplane trip but I wanted to give an update. We rented the C.A.R.E.S. airplane harnesses off ebay for $12.50 each (they retail for over $75) and they were awesome... worth every penny. They go around the plane seat and keep your toddler in place while you fly. It was perfect for takeoff and landing when any kid over two HAS to be strapped into their own seat. I highly recommend them to anyone who will be flying with a toddler and doesn't want to lug a big careseat (we rented them from the car rental company).

So good to know that they let you use the C.A.R.E.S. harness on American flights. They are actually prohibited during take-off and landing in the U.S. and I've talked to several moms who were only allowed to use them mid-flight, so it's good to know that hopefully things are changing.
Wow I never knew you could rent on ebay! Thanks for this info - I am hoping to be able to use it for our flight from Australia - US over Christmas. Thanks again :)
Southwest was great about them. No problems and we used them the whole flight.
So glad you said that. I literally JUST rented these off ebay and then read your blog...we're flying Southwest too and I just couldn't imagine lugging the carseat!!
