I know I have mentioned on my blog in the past that Brian's cousin has a daughter, Ashley (she is 4 or almost 5), that is battling leukemia. She went through an entire course of chemo and the cancer came back. Now she is back in the hospital, receiving chemo, awaiting a bone marrow transplant and she is feeling pretty darn awful. Ashley is stuck in her hospital room because of the H1N1 scare and sounds like she is going cabin fever crazy. I cannot imagine a little girl who is full of life sitting day after day in one room feeling like crap.
Her grand-mom (Brian's aunt) came up with the idea of having family members send her little things in the mail. Little toys, crafts, coloring books, anything to keep her busy. I went today and got her some stuff and I intend to send a little box of goodies each week for a while. This got me to thinking. As many of you are Moms you probably have little things lying around that your kids probably won't use (I know I do). What if I got a few people each week to send her a little something. Nothing big, but something that she can get in the mail to occupy her mind and kill a few hours of her day. If anyone is interested in participating send me an e-mail or post a comment and I can get you to mailing address at the hospital to send her something. I wish I could do more but at least this is something.
Thanks everyone!
