The meeting today went well. I will start with that. It wasn't fun. I had to keep my emotions and myself in check but it went well. It was not nearly as coordinated or organized as I expected or hoped. Our social worker had called yesterday to get the skinny on how it would play out. We were told they would outline why she was denied then I would talk about why I think she should be qualified. That wasn't how it went down. We got in the room and instead of 3 people being on the "board" as we were told there were 5. Overwhelming much? I am very thankful in these instances I am comfortable speaking in front of a group or I would have been so flustered.
I am not going to bore you with the specifics but instead of me just talking it was more of an interrogation. Again, thank goodness I am a conformable debater or else I would have been screwed. I had to interject, disagree, clarify... felt like open court a little. They are agreeing that she has obvious long term chronic motor impairment but what we disagree on is whether you can predict how severely this will impact her life later on. We have a few misc. pieces of information to submit but it now goes "under advisement". They did tell me that worst case scenario is that they would monitor her progress for 3 to 6 months and see what happens. That kind of annoys me because little is going to change in that short a period of time. BUT they didn't deny her and they are looking over our documentation. They have 60 days to respond so for now we wait.
