No, this time it isn't about Abby's docs, appointments, etc. This time it is more about Grace. She has been diagnosed in her short lifetime with oral apraxia (which is why she has speech delays), sensory integration disorder and problems with motor planning. The last two basically equate to she is extremely hyperactive, has little to no impulse control and can't really express herself. We do EVERYTHING we can think of. She is in OT. We brush her, use a body sock, do joint compressions, do joint extensions, swing her, bounce her, roll her, avoid food coloring, sugar and preservatives, get her activity during the day and on and on and on. AND STILL she is more child that any two parents can take. She hits, pushes, throws things, runs towards streets (if you're not holding onto her), tries to jump down stairs or off things, has screaming fits that can last an hour long. Even our OT isn't sure what to do with her. Unfortunately ADHD is genetic and we have it galore in our family. We know that will be her diagnosis when she is old enough to make it. I am just not sure what to do with her. When she is happy the whole world lights up. She can be so sweet you want to cry. But in the next moment she will come up to you and grab the skin on your face and pull. It is exhausting and frustrating. No amount of time outs or punishment even touches what we are dealing with. I think the kid is going to put me in an early grave.
(Sorry if this was jumbled it has been a LLOOONNNGGG day.)
