I wish I could report that Gracie did as well at separating from me as Abby did but that was not the case today. She hid from our case worker. She wouldn't respond to the special ed teacher. I had to ask her all the assessment questions (thank you to those classes I took in grad school on testing ;D). She was generally uncooperative with the child study team. The awesome thing was that she did really, really well. She measured well in the average range for learning and cognitive function. There have been some red flags for learning disabilities and this was a good sign that she might be slow to warm up to new concepts but is plenty smart.
It actually made me a little nervous that she won't qualify for this preschool program. On the cognitive "front" neither of my kids need it but they both do for sensory processing, speech for Grace and PT for Abs. We still have to do Gracie's speech and OT evals and Abby's PT eval so those should be upcoming pretty soon. Fingers crossed they both get in. I can't imagine if one does and the other doesn't. Will make my life more challenging for sure.

Abby is going to be "tested" to be in a program that their therapy offers. Kind of like a warm up for preschool. It this the same? I hope both mine get in also, but since Alex is not in therapy anymore, I don't know if she will. I hope she does. I can't imagine Abs would like it without her sister...same for you guys!

C - The program is a preschool program for the same school the girls will go to for elementary school. It is a really great program with fantastic OT, PT and speech as well as typical preschool academics. It is one of the best districts in the state so I am really, really hoping they get in!
Gracie should be eligible for services based on speech....shouldn't have a problem getting her in as long as she has a 33% delay in one area. Let me know how it goes...
