Anyone who has a sensory kid knows that playdough is a mother (and fathers) best friend. There is nothing more therapeutic that squishing and squeezing playdough. We have learned, with the help of our awesome OT, that you can do a lot with it. Here are a few of our girls favorites:
- Roll into "sausages" or "spaghetti" and cut with plastic scissors.
- Use stamps to make impressions.
- Use cookie cutters for shapes.
- Hide small toys inside and have your kid peal it apart and find the toys.
- Mix two colors and see what happens (this is great squishing and squeezing).
- Roll different size balls and compare. Then when you're done squish them all down flat.
Abby is more of a sensory avoider so we sometimes will cover her whole hand or foot in the dough and have her wiggle and peal it off.
