Today we finally had the long awaited OT evaluation for Gracie. I haven't posted too much about the enduring saga of preschool but long story short (kind of short... I am a bit long winded, I know) is that both girls were assessed by their home schools special needs preschool. Children who are eligible received preschool as well as their therapeutic services 5 days a week for two hours. Abby was a quick shoe in. In fact this week they told me (even though it is typically not done) that she is definitely in the program. She will get OT, PT and regular preschool services. She is eligible for the summer program but I am doubting that we will send her as Gracie won't be eligible.
So, along the assessment path there have been a couple major errors. I know that our school is one of the best in the county but still there have been big errors made by the school. The latest was that in the central referral agency when they got the paperwork for Gracie's OT eval they sent it through as being done because they already had a child with the same last name and birthdate who had an OT eval. I guess twins is a foreign concept then???
So our IEP has now been pushed from Friday morning to June 11th. It means more waiting for us to find out the girls educational fate but oh well. Long story short huh??? ;D
So today was the OT eval. Gracie did very well but she did show plenty of glimpses into her sensory and attentional issues. I don't know what is going to happen but I walked away feeling like the OT will probably recommend services. Hopefully it will be enough to qualify Grace. We'll see.
