All I have to say today is potty training sucks! We've got the nice shiny potties. We've got the treats and incentives and chocolate. We have the cute panties and training pants. What we don't have are kids who are ready to go on the potty yet.

Hi Kristen - Have the girls responded well to the chore charts? Just curious because I had an idea that might work if they're excited by seeing accomplishment... I put a sticker chart on the cabinet in the bathroom for my daughter. She liked earning the stickers and it gave her something to look at while she was in there. ;-)
You sure do have shiny potties!
Potty training is extremely frustrating and a true test of patience.
Ava didn't take very well to the training potties - she preferred to sit on a training seat thing ON the toilet seat and go directly into the toilet. Once we put the training toilet in storage and let her go on the real toilet she was a much more willing participant in the whole process.
Just a thought...
Good luck!
I welcome any suggestions with open arms at this point!!! Keep them coming!
Nichole - I think I might try that. I found some simple printable charts for behavior or accomplishments and anything that might help is worth every second.
Mich- We do have one of those potty seat things. We haven't thought to try it but maybe I will have to get it out and see what they do.
We did a big hoopla about diapers being for babies. I took my son with me to donate the diapers to the baby room at our church.
I then never put him in a diaper again. We did pull-ups for nap and bedtime only. Underwear the rest of the time.
We went about our daily routine and my son would have accident after accident. I would bring many changes of clothes. This lasted about two weeks or so.
He then got tired of having accidents and asked to go to the potty.
He hasn't had many accidents since then. Maybe one every couple of weeks or so.
Just my experience for what it may be worth. I know all kids are so different.
