One of the girls favorite things to do lately is spend time at the library. They have joined the summer reading club and earn prizes for spending time reading. I thought it would be something that entertained them for about two days and they would get over. Thankfully new books coming into the house every week creates new interest regularly. I didn't think they were ready for the library experience but I have been pleasantly surprised.
The girls very favorite book right now is A Giraffe and a Half. It is written by Shel Silverstein. Have you read this book? It is hysterical. I love Shel Silverstein (grew up loving A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends) but had never read it. I highly recommend it for preschoolers. Both of my kids hysterically laugh through the entire book.

Thanks for your post. I have my own collection of Shel books but hadn't thought of reading them to the kids yet. We read A giraffe and a half tonight and Michael laughed through the entire story. My favorite Shel books are The Missing Piece and The Missing Piece meets the big O. They are not kids books but great quick reads with deep messages.
The Missing Piece and The Missing Piece meets the big O are childrens books just childrens books with a deep message that adults could really relate to...
Aleigh - We just took A Light in the Attic out at the library. I remember loving all of his books as a little kid so I figured why not try reading them to the girls.
