They are really ready.
I have heard this phrase so many times since my kids were born. It started with the whole suck, swallow, breath thing in the NICU. It went to rolling over and crawling and walking. I have had doctors, nurses, therapists, surgeons, family, friends, strangers even tell me that kids only do things when they are ready. Over three years I have gotten a little better at taking this advice (although the control freak in me HATES having to do it).
Well, once again "they" are right. My kids are potty training. Just like that. At home (during waking hours) they now go only on the potty. We have had only 3 accidents on the floor and those were in the midst of trying to get on the potty. They still wear overnights (and probably will for some time) and pull ups when we go out. I am just in awe of the process. We went from 24 hour diapers to needing them only for sleep and going out.
Abby is ready to start training out of the house but Gracie is a little bit further behind (go figure... we totally thought Abs would be our tough one). I am guessing that by the time they get to school in September it will be in panties!!! This was my personal goal for them but I thought it was a long shot. I am so proud. :D
