The girls love the show Modern Family. We are not huge TV people but this is a show of which we have almost 20 episodes on Tivo. There is this episode (towards the end of this last season) where the entire family travels to Hawaii. There is this line that every time I hear I burst into laughter. The Mom (mother of three kids) is having a conversation with her husband. He tells her that he plans to turn this family vacation into a honeymoon they never had. The mother of three (Claire) looks at her husband and says "I'm a Mom traveling with my kids, this is not a vacation, this is a business trip". :D Omg, how true!
So true! We are getting ready for our vacation to the beach. The girls, Brian and I travel with my parents, Genna, Will, Jordan, my siblings and their spouses and kids. What amazes me is that for a fairly brief vacation my mother and I spend almost two months planning, shopping and packing. There is no throwing clothes in a suitcase and going. Instead there are meals to plan, linens to wash and pack, packing lists, food, paper goods, and on and on.
Thankfully this is the time I look forward to more than any other time of year. I guess it even out. The fact that I need a vacation to recover from my vacation is a whole other story but what can you do...
