I keep thinking I have it all figured out. Don't bother with a load of laundry every day. Have one big laundry day and then run a couple of loads during the week. It sounds good in theory but come every Sunday I have to climb Mount Laundry in order to get to the machine. Am I alone here? Is the alternate a better approach? Thinking maybe a load a day lifestyle might work better?

This is so funny b/c I keep going back and forth on this, too! I've averaged and settled for a load of lights and a load of darks just about every other day. Even with that approach I still manage to have a big laundry day each week which is Friday (today, ugh). On Friday I usually do sheets and towels also. Friday tends to be my stay home all day cleaning and preparing for the weekend day - laundry, bathrooms, de-clutter, etc. I usually end up ironing every other week for a couple hours too. I can't seem to stay on top of that task b/c I don't like to keep the ironing board out so I let it pile up and then tackle it over the course of a couple or few hours. Laundry is my least favorite chore. I had no idea I could go on and on about it either...
Man am I glad you posted pictures of your laundry! :-)
I live in England, the washer's here are seriously 1/4 the size of American ones. It takes at least 2 loads to get one set of bed linens washed. We make at least 1-2 loads in clothes/day. And I thought I had a laundry problem before we moved here! Load a day seems to work best for me to keep Mt. Washmore under control, sometimes I squeeze in 2. (Oh it also takes about 3 hours to wash and dry a load and that's on the "fast load" cycle) then I go the laundry mat about every other week to get everything done.
I do laundry 3 days a week -- Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It's on my chore "chart" for those days. ;)
It generally works out to be 1-2 loads each time depending on what bin is full.
S - Holy cow!!! I had no idea that in England the machines were so much smaller. I guess I have no right to complain!
I do laundry twice a week and pile the clean stuff on our guest bed, where we pick n pull until one of us has had enough and puts away about half of it. I'm betting that isn't the way my grandma did it! My husband has not worn an unwrinkled under shirt in 10 years! But at least we're clean (is how I justify it).
Mt Washmore...that's great!!!
I applaud those of you who iron. I don't even know where mine is (*blush*). We do know the dry cleaner up the street on a first name basis. :D
