This year and I began to make my Christmas lists and think a little about how I wanted to spend the season I spent a good deal of time thinking about holiday spirit. What it is, what it means and what it SHOULD mean (in my humble opinion). To me (and I know I am not alone on this one) Christmas has become little more than a consumer holiday where we spend very little time thinking about the true meaning. I am a catholic and I believe in the birth of Christ. I believe that this is why we celebrate Christmas and the rest should be celebrated because of this. I have spent a couple of Christmas seasons studying the meaning certain icons like Santa Claus, Wreaths, Candy Canes and so on. It is so fascinating and so few of us know the reasons for why we do what we do.
Anyway, back on track. I have decided that I am going to celebrate The 25 Day of The Reason for the Season. Each day for 25 days I am going to find something to do in the true spirit of Christmas. Whether it is something small that happens in my day or something I can to go out and search for I will do something each day.
I urge you all to do something similar in your own lives. I think it will not only inspire the spirit of helping others but also remind us why we celebrate this holiday.
Begins tomorrow!!!

Great idea - looks like fun! I am not religious, but I do believe in being nice to each other - and I LOVE the holidays and the christmas traditions - it is part of our culture, and I too love to think about the spirit of it, and not just the stuff.
