It's the other. We have gotten a handle (for now) on some of Abby's extreme anxiety symptoms. She is still having the obsessions and compulsive behavior but the anxiety/panic attacks are more under control.
I wrote to the girls teacher to follow up about them fighting in school last week. She wrote back and explained how they have been seeing some of the impulsive and hyperactive symptoms in Grace that we have been seeing at home. What was more concerning is that she is having a lot of trouble interacting socially with her classmates. Grace is very, very, very overbearing with her peers... to a concerning degree. They have been working on it all year but it seems to be increasing lately. One of her classmates has become her fixation. She wants him to only play with her and she wants to tell him what to do. She gets upset when anyone (especially her sister) tried to play with this friend.
Obviously this is a problem in the classroom. I was a little annoyed that no one has said anything. It has been going on for a week or two and I am only hearing about it because I asked. We decided to write a social story about it in hopes that we can encourage her to play with other classmates and stop fixating on this one friend. Her teacher says she is a little concerned for her social development so it is something we'll be keeping an eye on.
Ugg... feels like it's always something.
