Yesterday we had the girls annual IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) meetings at school. As much as I know what to expect I always get nervous for these. Part of it is the fear that you are going to get a curve ball and have trouble reacting (in a room full of people). The other part is that it is still a challenge to see all of your children's flaws, issues, problems and weaknesses written out in black and white. Thankfully this meeting was filled with much more good than bad. The girls are progressing really well. They are both super smart for their age. They get along fairly well with their classmates. Everyone at school just adores them.
Next year they will go into the four year old room in the afternoon. This means we will have to get rid of naps which should be interesting. Thankfully they will be staying together (yay for no battle!!!) and have the same teacher as this year. We also learned that the bulk of the class will be staying together next year. It's nice to know they will have the same consistency next year.
Abby will remain at twice weekly OT and twice weekly PT. Grace will be moving down to only once weekly OT and speech. It also sounds like next year at the middle of the year conference if she is doing well enough she might only get speech and no pull out for OT. The school is so awesome that it has weekly OT and speech groups (so it's like an extra session each week) and monthly PT group. So for kids like Grace they can get their therapy in the classroom.
So all in all there were no battles, no surprises, no curve-balls. My kind of meeting! :D
