This past weekend the girls enjoyed their first sleepover since they were about two. Brian and I were celebrating our anniversary by going out to a nice dinner and then seeing Genna's play (Singing in the Rain). My Mom and Dad were slated to watch the girls and when my Mom offered to try keeping the girls overnight I jumped at the chance. I felt like they were genuinely ready to do a sleepover but we live around the corner so if the wheels came off it would be fine.
We left them off around 4 and Grace was a little put off. She was clingy and a little teary when we left. The girls are not used to being away from me for more than about 3 hours so it was a lot all at once. I really only checked in a couple of times and they did awesome. They went to the mall. Swam in my Mom's splash pool. Had a blast.
Abby did have some trouble sleeping (which is not unusual for her at all) but no tears and no asking for us. Not only was it awesome to have a full night with no kids but sleeping in until 9:30 sure didn't hurt either. The other nice thing is that we now know we can get away every once in a while.

The first sleepover the girls has was back in March at my in laws and it didn't go well. The girls didn't sleep, but I think they would of if my in-laws would of done things a little differently. ;) My girls always sleep, so it was odd to hear they gave them trouble. I gave them tips for the next time. Hopefully there will be a next time lol!
Glad you guys had a night alone, it's so wonderful!
C - It's great to know you have the option of actually going away once in a while. :D
