The girls have done a very nice job lately of occupying each other. Not sure if it's because I am so wiped out in the afternoons (third trimester fun!) and they don't have anyone else to play with. Whatever it is it's nice. I spend a couple of hours in the afternoons working at the kitchen table. I can then either monitor them in the playroom (which is off the kitchen) or they can play in their room and I can listen in on the monitor. What cracks me up is the little conversations they develop.
Yesterday they were playing together and I thought Grace was really crying. Turns out Abby isn't the only play actor in our house. She is convincingly "crying" for Abby to let her say goodbye "just one more time" before she leaves. In those moments I have to do everything in my power to NOT laugh and pretend I'm not listening. If I do laugh they stop dead in their tracks and go to twin world where I don't get to enjoy.
I am sure it's a sibling thing but it's funny the way that twins can create an entire world of play in about two seconds. No discussion, no negotiating, no planning. They just go to their world. It's pretty fun to watch!
As a funny aside the other day Abby was playing with her Little People bus and she was taking all of her friends to school. When she stopped to reprimand one of her friends I asked what he did wrong. She looked as me like she was utterly annoyed I would ask and says "I don't know Mommy, I wasn't watching... you'd have to ask the bus driver". I guess Little People are more than just plastic!
