When the girls were fairly young we discovered that time outs don't always work. We sometimes punish and they would sit quietly, do their time, get up and go right back to what they were doing. We found that sometimes it made more sense to eliminate the situation. That is when we instituted toy time outs. If a toy seems to be the root of a problem, either with the kids fighting over it or general misbehavior with it, instead of putting he child on time out we put the toy on time out. This means putting the toy where it cannot be reached bu it can be seen. Then it acts as a reminder that we must get our act together in order to earn the toy back. I wasn't sure it was going to work but surprisingly it worked like a charm.
So it is not unusual for batman (which lives on top of our fridge for some odd reason) to have some company.
