Over the past 15 years I have collected many, many cookbooks. While I have many of the Food Network Stars books my very favorites are the old books you find from a church or a school. Those are where the gems are found. I love to skim, look at the pictures, get ideas and explore the many culinary options out there. In fact my kids are so inundated with my love of cookbooks that they are very happy sitting down with me to pour over a few books. I love that I have taught them that already!
However, MY "cook books" are a little different. I have three three-ring binders that house my personal recipes. They are recipes I have created, found in magazines or online. My three books are 1. crock pot cooking, 2. main courses, 3. sides, salads, soups, veggies and desserts. I went to staples and bought tabs to divide my books so I can stay super organized. I then use small sticky labels to point out for myself which recipes I am working on, have where I want them and ones yet to try.
While I know it sounds a little complicated it really isn't. It took a little bit of time to put them together but once I had it all in one place it saved me so much time. No more recipe cards or stacks of cook books to go through to find recipe. It might not work for everyone but it definitely suits me.
